Ghana: Farm Radio International honours Community Radio Presenter in Upper East

Farm Radio International has honoured Mrs Josephine Akariko, a Community Radio Presenter working with the “Gurune FM” in the Bolgatanga Municipality, for using the Community Radio as a platform to educate and sensitize farmers on good farming technologies.

Mr Benjamin Fiafor, the Director of Farm Radio International, said his outfit over the years has been promoting farming among small holder farmers and was happy to honour Mrs Akariko as one of the Best Farm Radio Winners in West Africa for the year 2017.

He said an assessment conducted by Farm Radio International in collaboration with the Gurune FM , revealed that the radio’s farmer education programme has made an impact on many farmers in seven communities across the region leading to increase in crop yields and improvement in animal production.
