Green Climate Fund Remains Underfunded

Despite having approved over $1 billion in projects to help underdeveloped countries tackle climate change, the Green Climate Fund (GCF) appears to remain severely underfunded.

Even after multi-billion dollar donations from a number of the world’s wealthiest nations, the Green Climate Fund is, to this day, still about $90 billion short from the $100 billion that it was initially aiming for.

Green Climate Fund Interim Executive Director Javier Manzanares recognizes the fact that the problem exists, and that the same problem has hindered the organization from achieving more among the plans initially laid out by the organization.
