Nigeria to Produce 1 Million Tons of Rice During Dry Season

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello said adequate provision has been made to enable Rice farmers in the state produce one million metric tonnes of rice by the end of this year’s dry season.
He said this just as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh disclosed federal government’s plan to provide irrigation equipment to rice farmers in the state to enable them meet the target.
The duo spoke during the inspection tour of rice farms at Danchitagi in Lavun Local Government area of the state under the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Anchor Borrowers Program by the Minister, Chairman Presidential Committee on Rice Paddy, Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the nation’s apex bank.
