South African Teenager Awarded for Citrus Science
Fruit is delicious, refreshing, and good for you too. But one teenage scientist has discovered that the humble orange is far more than just a tasty treat.
This morning the winner of the annual Google Science Fair was announced, in which young scientists were inspired by one question: “What will you make better?”
Leading the pack this year is 16-year-old Kiara Nirghin, from Johannesburg, South Africa, who has been awarded grand prize for her groundbreaking idea to use fruit to fight drought.
Nirghin beat thousands of submissions from more than 100 countries with her proposal to use orange peel in new and innovative ways
