Lagos Has Planted 6 Million Trees in Recent Years

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, has disclosed that the state government has so far planted six million trees to combat climate change.

Adejare made the disclosure at the Coastal Cities At Risk Project Media Workshop held in Lagos recently.

He said the Lagos State government had since slated every July 14 as the tree planting day to ensure coordinated efforts to tackle the rampaging effect of climate change.

"Since we started tree planting in Lagos, I can tell you that we have planted a total of six million trees. Today alone, we have planted 600,000 trees and our target is that by Year 2020, we succeed in planting at least 10 million trees," Adejare said.
