Botswana: Heat Wave Breaks Maximum Temperature Records

The extreme heat wave which hit the country recently has broken several maximum temperature records, according to statistics from the Department of Meteorological Services.

Botswana experienced searing heat with temperatures climbing above 40 Degrees Celsius.

According to information provided by acting chief meteorologist, Mr Radithupa Radithupa, the national maximum temperature record of 43.3 Degrees Celsius which had stood for almost 72 years, was broken on Thursday after Maun station recorded a maximum reading of 44 Degrees Celsius.

Gaborone held the record for the national highest temperature since 1944.
