Egypt seeks to develop solar plant to boost generation capacity

In North Africa, global power solutions company Schneider Electric is looking to develop a 50MW solar power plant, with the support of the Ministry of Electricity, in Southern Sinai, Egypt, local media Youm7 reported.

The executive manager of the power solutions company and the Egyptian Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail, met on Wednesday to discuss the proposedclean power project.

Efficiency of grid

The executive manager said: “The company is to act as a technical expert and implementer for the project, in cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity; the project will coordinate to raise the efficiency of Egypt’s national grid.”

Schneider Electric said in a statement: “Our continuity in investing in Egypt even through the hard times of the last years is a result of their belief in the importance of investment in Egypt; we are looking forward to pump more investment in Egypt in the upcoming years.”
