Nigeria to access $500m Green Climate fund

Nigeria will benefit $500 million concessionary loan funding from the Green climate fund, courtesy of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The Green Climate Fund is aimed at promoting low-emissions and climate-resilient development pathways in developing countries meeting the costs of climate change interventions through grants and concessionary financing.

The Director, Department of climate change,Federal ministry of environment, Peter Tarfa made this known in a two day conference in collaboration with United Nations Development Programmes.

Nigeria’s priority areas of project proposal funding include the Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency, and Coastal Resilience.
