Heavy rains make little difference in the Cape

Despite recent heavy rains in the Western Cape, water still needs to be saved and used very sparingly, says Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille.

On Friday, the city’s dam levels were recorded at 20.4%. However, with the last 10% of water mostly non-usable, dam levels are effectively at 10.4%.

The city recently saw the implementation of level four water restrictions which means that each person needs to decrease their water consumption to less than 100 litres a day.

“I would like to thank the many residents and businesses who have made concerted efforts to save water and I encourage them to keep up these efforts,” she said.
