Nigeria To Build Dams For Irrigation In All States

Nigeria's Federal Government has announced that it will construct no fewer than 10 lakes and dams in each of the country's 36 states to boost irrigated farming in 2017. Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Chief Audu Ogbeh, disclosed the plan here Thursday in Abuja while highlighting some of the proposed 2017 plans to boost agricultural production in the country. He noted that Oyo State had no fewer than 22 dams which were not utilised, while Ogun state had 12, Kano state 23 and Imo state had many moribund lakes and dams, which would be cleaned up and put to use in 2017.
