Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Senzeni Zokwana says it is important that we preserve South Africa's indigenous plants and trees. Speaking on Morning Live he says during this Arbor Week, his department is encouraging people to plant, grow and preserve trees and avoid cutting them. He says the plan is to encourage families to have trees in their yards. "This will provide shelter as well as food in the form of fruits," says Zokwana. He says preserving trees helps deal with climate change challenges and also helps address food shortages.
