Small Scale Farmers Call On Colleagues to Join Cooperatives to Address Poverty
Female small scale farmers in Musanze district have testified that working in cooperatives has helped them to address the issue of poverty. These women are from Muko sector in Musanze district (Northern Province). The enterprising women made the remarks yesterday during a media trip and field visit to their district. The trip was organized by ActionAid International Rwanda.
During their interactions, they shared various success stories of how their lives have been greatly transformed. Hilaries Mujawamungu, the president of Hugukirwa Muko cooperative, said they were once poor to the extent that they could only solve their needs after begging money from their husbands. However, after joining hands, their livelihoods have progressively transformed.
