13 Kenyan Counties to Benefit From Climate Change Project

Friedrich Ebert Stiftung is set to roll out a three year project aimed at building climate change resilience and adaptation in the Lake Victoria basin.

The project coordinator Linda Achieng said the population along the basin is susceptible to climate change effects.

Ms Achieng said 13 counties in Western Kenya region will benefit from the project.

“The project will build climate change resilience and adaptation in the Lake Victoria basin region,” she said

She said the lake basin region has been experiencing extreme climatic variations noting that regions residing adjacent to the lake region experience rise in water levels caused by exploitation of forests resources.

“We have identified where climate is affecting the locals and find out on which best strategies can be put in place by the counties and build linkages,” she said.
