Irreversible Damage to Earth from Climate Change Could Last for 10,000 Years

Carbon emissions from fossil fuels are not going to be just an immediate or a short-term problem, but its effects will last for tens of thousands of years, a new study has claimed.

Researchers have suggested in the new study published in Nature Climate Change that because of the rate at which we are causing the release of carbon in atmosphere because of our activities, Earth may suffer irreversible damage and it could last for thousand of years even 100,000 years.

Peter Clark, an Oregon State University paleoclimatologist and lead author on the article, said that we need to understand that the effects of climate change are short-term or medium-term, but something that would not go away for thousands of years and will affect thousands of generations to come.
